Petra Wagner

Petra Wagner is Professor of Phonetics and Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics and Literary Studies at Bielefeld University. She received her doctoral degree from the University of Bonn in 2002. She has a long track record in research on (multimodal) prosody in speech-based interaction, human-machine interaction and conversational speech synthesis, with a special focus on cross-modal coordination as well as perception-production coupling in speech-based interaction. She also has a strong interest in moving speech research out of the lab and into the – ecologically valid – wild. In 2018, she received the Humboldt Award as an outstanding German scholar working in the humanities by Swedish Riksbankens Jubileumsfonds. She was one of the co-organizers of Interspeech in 2015, and served five times as Area Chair for Interspeech.
